Product Description
An exceptionally rare ONE-OFF handmade custom folding knife, NO.R8-1, created by Japanese artist Yukio Nibe (二部幸夫).
The blade is crafted from carbon steel reclaimed from a traditional Japanese sword remnant, preserving the character and history of the original material.
Featuring a suguha (straight hamon), the blade displays areas of irregular or interrupted nioiguchi, forging flaws, and traces of rust. These characteristics reflect the condition and history of the reclaimed sword steel.
The spine and shinogi-ji feature a blackened finish, creating a distinctive contrast with the blade surfaces.
The iron handle is finished using a cloth-and-lacquer impregnation technique with an additional painted finish, giving the piece a unique texture and appearance.
Measuring approximately 307mm overall with a 134mm blade body, the knife folds to 212 × 27 × 15mm and weighs approximately 270 grams.
The piece bears the artist’s signature “Heiju” (平寿).
A remarkable collectible custom knife that brings together traditional Japanese sword materials, historical character, and contemporary metal artistry.
ONE-OFF. One piece only. Made in Japan.
