Rare ONE-OFF Wtopia × Sunizumi “Nobumitsu” Restored Japanese Antique Axe – Shirogami #2 / Wild Boar Leather

A rare ONE-OFF restoration and reinterpretation project by Wtopia × Sunizumi Shoten, built around an antique Japanese axe bearing the “Nobumitsu” mark.

The original axe head is made from Shirogami #2 steel, retaining the aged surface, forging character, and traces accumulated over time.

It is paired with a long wooden handle and finished with wild boar leather and black wrapping details, bringing together aged steel, natural wood, and leather in a deliberately preserved, time-worn composition.

The axe head also carries a hand-chiseled inscription:

“孤舟欲過岸，浪急渡人空。
女人立流水，望月意情濃。”

Measuring approximately 850 mm overall and weighing approximately 2.3 kg, the piece retains the physical presence of the original antique while giving it a new form through restoration and custom work.

Rather than erasing its age, the project allows those traces of time to remain part of the finished work.
