MCUSTA MATOUEN Limited Edition Japanese Folding Knife

Where Seki's knifemaking heritage meets the timeless artistry of Kiso lacquerware.

The MCUSTA MATOUEN Limited Edition brings together two celebrated Japanese craft traditions: precision knifemaking from Seki City and traditional lacquer artistry from Kiso-Hirasawa, Nagano.

The blade features striking colored Damascus steel incorporating copper and brass, with a V-Toku 2 steel core designed to deliver excellent cutting performance. Its distinctive layered pattern creates a beautiful balance of craftsmanship and functionality.

The handle showcases premium ironwood, prized for its rich grain and natural character. It is further enhanced with vibrant vermilion Tsuishu-style lacquerwork by Kashiwya Jozaemon Shoten, a long-established Kiso lacquerware workshop.

Combining Seki's refined blade craftsmanship with a traditional lacquer technique passed down since the Muromachi period, MATOUEN is a distinctive expression of Japanese artistry, precision, and heritage.
