Overview
The “Aki-gumo” is a multi-purpose outdoor chef knife handcrafted by Japanese bladesmith Kiku Matsuda.
Its name, meaning “Autumn Cloud,” reflects the soft, layered expression of the blade’s etched surface—combining quiet elegance with functional strength.
Forged from high-quality VG-10 Damascus-style laminated steel, the blade features a thickness of approximately 3mm, offering an excellent balance of sharpness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance.
With an overall length of 264 mm, a blade length of 134 mm, and a weight of about 285 g, the Aki-gumo is exceptionally easy to handle, making it ideal for camp cooking, outdoor food prep, and all-around field use.
The blade showcases Matsuda’s signature “crushed-pattern etching,” creating a textured visual depth that changes with the light.
The black G10 handle is three-dimensionally sculpted for reliable grip and slip resistance—even when wet.
Included is a Boltaron 4332 sheath, a high-performance material known for superior heat and impact resistance compared to standard Kydex.
