Shintaro Nakayama

Custom Knives of His Own Design

Born in 1981, Shintaro Nakayama is a knifemaker based in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan. He works from his own original designs and shapes his blades from steel stock using the stock removal method. When he works with carbon steel, he also heat treats the blades himself. His knives pair clean silhouettes with a sense of balance between blade and handle. Their understated forms give you a chance to appreciate the care he puts into the smallest details.
