Seki Outdoors Knife Show 2025 Exhibition Report|Sunizumi Shoten
On October 11–12, 2025, the long-awaited annual event for knife enthusiasts across Japan, the Seki Hamono Festival, was held in Gifu Prefecture’s city of Seki — a place renowned as the “City of Blades.”
At the venue, we could truly feel the deep passion and respect that Japanese craftsmen devote to their knives. From traditionally forged kitchen knives to modern outdoor designs, every piece radiated a unique presence and sense of life.
Visitors were able to experience the weight and texture of the knives firsthand and even participate in the traditional “Meikiri” engraving, carving their own names into metal plates.
For two vibrant days, Seki once again shone as Japan’s capital of blades, gathering master craftsmen, collectors, and brands from around the world to celebrate both the heritage and innovation of Japanese knife culture.
This year, Sunizumi Shoten proudly joined the event for the first time, unveiling our very first handmade outdoor knife — “Shou-brown.”
The exhibition became an invaluable opportunity for us to learn, exchange ideas, and connect. We were honored to reunite with friends such as Hidetoshi Nakayama, Kiku Matsuda, and Wang Han, while also meeting many new knife enthusiasts whose energy and creativity deeply inspired us.
Moving forward, Sunizumi Shoten will continue to take steady steps toward creating knives that harmonize with nature and resonate with the hearts of those who use them.
We hope our knives will continue to embody a new vision of craftsmanship, allowing people to experience “a new world of blades.”
